He may be best known as “The Freeze” in the sports entertainment world, but Southern Miss alum Durran Dunn is developing quite a reputation in finance spheres.
Dunn, a professional sprinter who recently hung up the cleats as one of the Atlanta Braves’ most coveted in-game entertainers, has found himself among the top 200 certified public accountants on Forbes’ inaugural list.
On the baseball diamond, Dunn was known to use his lightning speed to race past fan contestants in the outfield’s warning track, despite his opponents being given a lengthy head start. He simultaneously worked his way up to becoming a partner at the Atlanta-based Bennett Thrasher firm.

As a Southern Miss student, Dunn balanced academics, leadership roles, and participation in the track and football teams. After graduating, he joined KPMG — a global leader in audit, tax, and advisory services — passing his CPA exam in just two years. He then advanced to leadership roles at Turner Broadcasting, Newell Brands, and Graphic Packaging International.
A decorated athlete, Dunn also represented the United States at the 2022 World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championships in Finland where he earned double medals.
Now he’s known as one of the most prolific individuals in his day-to-day profession.
