JACKSON, MISS– The New York Mississippi Society has canceled the annual Mississippi in the Park picnic slated for this summer because of the passing of the Religious Liberties Accommodation Act.
The Mississippi Development Authority says the society nixed the event without first consulting MDA or organizations in Mississippi that participate in the event.
“I am disappointed we won’t be celebrating Mississippi’s rich and diverse culture in Central Park this year,” Bryant says “I’m confident many New Yorkers feel the same way. I will be happy to participate in the event should organizers revive it in the future.”
