The biggest rodeo east of the Mississippi River will commence its 60th edition with flare as the 2025 Dixie National Parade rolls through downtown Jackson on Saturday.
While the Dixie National Rodeo officially begins Friday, the parade will serve as the kickoff celebration the day after. A cornucopia of cowboys and cowgirls, marching bands, rodeo queens, decorative floats, and the Dixie National Wagon Train will be included in the festive procession.
According to Mississippi Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson, the theme of this year’s rodeo will be “60 Years in the Saddle,” the rodeo’s diamond anniversary.
“With special appearances from unique participants, local celebrity judges, and more, this Saturday’s event is the perfect outing for the whole family,” Gipson said. “So come out and enjoy all that the Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo has to offer. This Saturday, visitors can enjoy a parade, livestock shows, an expo, a rodeo performance, and a concert.”

The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the corner of Mississippi and Jefferson Streets, travel down Mississippi Street, circle the State Capitol, and finally take a left onto Amite Street before returning to the State Fairgrounds.
Rodeo officials said the best views for spectators will be from the Capitol grounds near President, High, and West streets. Parking will be available at the state capitol and surrounding lots.
Parade participants will be judged by local celebrities and distinguished judges to determine winners in several categories. After the procession, Miss Mississippi Becky Williams will present the awards at the Mississippi Farmers Market at 12:30 p.m.
