The suspect accused of murdering three people in New Mexico turned himself in to authorities in Hernando Sunday.
Desoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) officials say a search warrant executed on Pecan Ridge Cove led to the arrest of Kane Mayes. He stands accused in the shooting deaths of three people in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
An Alamogordo detective notified the DCSO that Mayes and the vehicle stolen during the crime happened to be at a residence in Hernando. Detectives found the stolen vehicle, a 2015 Subaru Outback, at the residence, along with other evidence linked to Mayes.
After the home was searched, Mayes turned himself in at the Hernando Police Department. He confessed to driving the stolen car from New Mexico to the house in Mississippi.
Mayes was officially charged with receiving stolen property and fugitive from justice. He is currently awaiting extradition back to New Mexico.
