HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The Residence Hall Association at the University of Southern Mississippi will host a special program to highlight the issue of domestic violence on Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in Scianna Hall at the Hattiesburg campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Titled, “What’s Love Got to Do With It: A Fight Against Domestic Violence,” the event will feature a performance competition between several student groups at the university. Organizations and individuals will perform skits, dances, songs and poetry readings.
“This event is very significant because there are instances of domestic violence and sexual assault that go unreported at USM and other colleges across the country,” said Southern Miss senior Perry Overstreet, the event’s director. “Hopefully, this type of event will encourage students to speak out.”
The event will also include a panel discussion on domestic violence/sexual assault.
