Mississippi’s health and human services departments will have multiple locations shut down in the central and southern counties of the state due to the threat of extreme weather.
As Winter Storm Enzo rolls across the southeastern U.S., a wintry mix of snow, sleet, or rain is forecast by the National Weather Service to potentially impact roadways across central to south Mississippi. This prompted the two government agencies to close locations in the following counties on Tuesday:
Mississippi State Department of Health office closures:
- Coastal and South Mississippi
- Adams, Amite, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne and Wilkinson counties will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Central Mississippi
- Claiborne, Copiah, Simpson, Warren, Hinds, Rankin, Scott, Newton, Lauderdale, Smith, Jasper, and Clarke will be closed on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Madison and Attala will be closed on Tuesday, but are scheduled to open Wednesday.
Mississippi Department of Human Service office closures:
- Locations in Adams, Amite, Franklin, George, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Marion, Pearl River, Pike, Stone, Wayne, and Wilkinson counties will be closed on Tuesday.
