A standoff between a disgruntled man and both state and local law enforcement officers ended peacefully Monday morning after nearly nine hours.
Yazoo County sheriff’s deputies responded to Oakhaven Apartments around 2 a.m. Monday after reports of “unknown trouble.”
Investigators say deputies contacted an upset man at the complex, who told officers that he had a firearm and was not coming out of the building. Two women were also found to be inside the apartment with the suspect.
Officers from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Highway Patrol SWAT team responded to assist Yazoo deputies.
During the standoff, deputies cut a hole into the wall of an adjoining apartment, allowing the two hostages to escape with no injuries. Shortly after the escape, the unidentified suspect was taken into custody without incident before 11:15 a.m.
No injuries were reported as a result of the standoff or the arrest.
