Santa Claus will be working around the clock this holiday season and he might just be tuned in to SuperTalk stations across the state while doing so.
SuperTalk Mississippi Media (STMM) is pleased to announce another edition of A Mississippi Christmas with Steve Azar. Beginning Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. and going through Dec. 25, Azar will play hours and hours’ worth of Christmas classics, share tunes from fellow Mississippi artists, and even perform a couple of holiday tunes on his own guitar.
A Mississippi Christmas with Steve Azar will be available on STMM’s 12 news/talk stations, SuperTalk TV, and the SuperTalk Mississippi app. STMM music stations will continue with normal, holiday programming.
“This is the Christmas music that Santa would want to hear. I know that because Steve Azar plays golf with Santa – just like he does everyone else,” SuperTalk Mississippi Program Director Will East said, laughing with his belly shaking like a bowl full of jelly. “Seriously, though, this is one of our favorite programs each year. You’ll hear a lot of classic Christmas songs, but you’ll also hear some newer hits with a Mississippi twist.”
Azar, who hosts In A Mississippi Minute weekly on STMM news/talk stations, has enjoyed a storied career on both sides of the microphone, making him the perfect person to host the annual holiday special. In addition to his radio duties, Azar has charted nine times through seven albums and is best known for “I Don’t Have to Be Me (‘til Monday),” which peaked at the No. 2 spot on the charts in 2002.
“I can’t wait to host yet another ‘A Mississippi Christmas.’ We’re promoting Santa like we always do,” Azar said. “I don’t even know how many hours it is now, but I know one thing – I’m so excited. We’re going to celebrate Christmas and we’re going to be playing great music, have great stories from a lot of my friends that have been on my show talking about their great Christmas memories, and just have a good time.”
A Mississippi Christmas with Steve Azar was first aired in 2018. To get a sneak peek into what you might hear during the holiday special, check out Azar’s “Catfish Christmas” music video below.
