NATCHEZ, Miss.- Police found Joseph Laverne Sturdivant Jr. dead in his cell at the Adams County Jail Thursday afternoon.
It appeared that Sturdivant hung himself using a handmade rope.
Officers tried to revive him but failed to do so.
Sturdivant was serving time for a burglary charge and had been in jail since Feb. 19th.
The Natchez Democrat reports that police believe the rope was made with a bed sheet.
