Mississippi Aquarium is looking to make the holiday season merry and bright with Christmas-themed nighttime projection mapping shows.
The shows, which were first announced in April, headline the Gulfport facility’s “A Magical Mississippi Christmas” events. Presented at the Aquatic Waters building, shows last around 10 minutes and begin nightly at 5:30 p.m.
Music, orbs, and light sticks will be presented around the facility to enhance what occurs on the projection screen during the shows, which tell the story “A Penguin’s Christmas Wish.”
The aquarium hired Florida-based MDSX Creative. the company tasked with executing the projection lighting show for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, to facilitate the displays in Gulfport. SPRK Lighting out of Kentucky was also hired to provide additional iconic displays around the aquarium’s facilities.
Now that the pedestrian bridge over Highway 90 in Gulfport has been completed, officials have conjoined holiday events at the aquarium with the annual Harbor Lights Winter Festival display. Promotions are currently being offered for folks looking to enjoy offerings at both locations, located just across the highway from one another, on the same day.
