Sunday Brings More Rain to the Magnolia State

JACKSON, MISS– The National Weather Service reports showers and storms are possible later Sunday, even though many across the state are still dealing with flood waters.

And once those waters are gone, there’s just more chaos to deal with, like on Highway 589 in Lamar county, where a road has been reduced to chunks of asphalt after heavy flooding.

MEMA’s latest reports show 41 of Mississippi’s 82 counties are dealing with flooding in one way or the other. Today’s predicted storms are just adding to that.

Kicking off around 5pm, rain and thunderstorms are possible for the Northwest portion of Mississippi, along the river, and down through central Mississippi.  Hail, high winds, and tornadoes cannot be ruled out for these areas.

Prepare for another round of flash flooding, as waters have not yet receded, and another inch of rain is possible with this storm system.

News Mississippi will continue to monitor the flooding for you.
