One of the most magical Christmas light shows in America opens for another year of festivities this weekend.
The Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival, often ranked by the likes of Yahoo as one of the top light displays in the U.S., will flip the switch for over 1.5 million lights on Friday evening. The winter wonderland that takes over 40 acres of Jones Park includes everything from giant ornaments to elaborate festive scenes to a “dancing trees” show.
In addition to the lights, visitors will be able to watch the elves at work at Santa’s village, meet interactive reindeer, hop on a carnival ride, take a train ride, or visit with the big man himself. There will even be a trolley along Jones Park Drive, offering a different perspective on the glowing lights.
The 10th annual Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival will be open every day between November 29 and December 31 from 5:30-10:30 p.m. General admission is $15 per adult Sunday through Thursday, not including December 23 and 24. On those dates, plus Fridays and Saturdays, admission is $20 per adult. Admission for children ages 4-12 is $5 while children ages 0-3 get in free.
Free parking will be available at the Coast Transit Authority parking garage at 2015 15th Street with shuttle rides running every 15 to 30 minutes.
