A Hinds County man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty to the murders of his grandmother and uncle.
District Attorney Jody Owens announced Thursday that Harry Hylander was sentenced on two counts of first-degree murder. Hylander admitted to the 2021 slayings of Sarah Hylander, 83, and David Hylander, 60.
David and Sarah Hylander were found dead on a property on Midway Road after Hinds County sheriff’s deputies were called to the area for a welfare check. Both were reportedly shot multiple times.
Throughout the investigation, it was discovered that Hylander had confessed to another family member that he killed his uncle.
Clinton Police subsequently arrested Hylander at a local hotel. When they found him, he was in possession of a large sum of cash believed to have belonged to his grandmother.
He was sentenced to two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
