Tecumseh Products Company, a manufacturer of refrigeration and air conditioning products, has announced that it’s upgrading its facility in Lee County with a corporate investment of over $3.4 million.

The investment is expected to support 135 jobs. Through its Mississippi location, the Michigan-based company creates products for use in residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning applicants such as hermetic compressors, condensing units, and associated systems.

The upgrade in Lee County will include repairs to the roof and lighting in the company’s facility in Verona, along with additional improvements to employee common spaces and offices. According to a press release from the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), Tecumseh will also modify its production layout to improve its competitiveness in the North American market.

“MDA is pleased to support Tecumseh as it continues to invest in its Verona operations,” MA executive director Bill Cork said. “The upgrades being made at the Verona facility will enhance Tecumseh’s operational efficiency and support its continued growth, both of which benefit the local workforce and economy.”

Gov. Tate Reeves also touted the investment as proof that Mississippi is moving in the right direction when it comes to economic development.

“Tecumseh Product Company’s latest investment in Verona is a nod to our pro-business environment – one that encourages companies to remain here at home instead of seeking a new location elsewhere,” Reeves said. “By returning these 135 employees and investing significantly to modify its current facility, Tecumseh is further contributing to the strength of its community and the region as a whole.”

In addition to MDA’s support, Lee County is also assisting with the project. Improvements to Tecumseh’s facility in Verona are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
