JACKSON, Miss.- The State Fire Marshal’s office is warning people of a scammer offering free or upgraded fire alarm systems.
They say that a “salesman” is targeting the elderly with a promotion of a free fire alarm system, or an upgrade to your existing system. He way also offer you a reduction to your homeowners insurance if you buy in.
It is all a scam.
If you are approached by someone trying to sell you a fire alarm system ask for proof of a sales license, and a photo ID issued by the State Fire Marshal’s office. If they can’t provide these things do not purchase anything from them.
If they are offering an upgrade to your currently system always be sure to check with your current provider to validate this opportunity.
