Former Ole Miss standout turned New York Liberty guard Marquesha Davis has been crowned a WNBA champion in her rookie season.
The Liberty pulled out a 67-62 overtime win over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday to secure the franchise’s first-ever title. Though Davis did not make an appearance in the determining Finals contest, the first-year professional appeared in 20 games this season, averaging 1.2 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.2 assists, and 0.1 steals.
She also got a little action in the postseason, appearing in one matchup where she scored three points, hauled in two rebounds, and had two assists in just three minutes. Her best outing this year came on June 23 when Davis scored nine points in a 96-75 win over the Atlanta Dream.
SO proud of our girl, @MarqueshaDavis 🥹
She is the second Ole Miss player to win the WNBA Championship!

Davis is just the second Rebel player in program history to earn a WNBA title, as Yolanda Moore claimed back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998. Along with Davis and Moore, a pair of former Ole Miss head coaches found success coaching in the league as Van Chancellor notched four WNBA titles and Lin Dunn claimed the 2012 championship.
While in Oxford, Davis instantly made waves as one of the Lady Rebels’ most efficient scorers. During the 2023-24 season, the standout guard recorded 25 games in double-figure scoring and led Ole Miss with an average of 14.6 points per game to earn first-team All-SEC accolades. At the 2024 SEC Tournament, Davis eclipsed the 1,000 career-point threshold and became the 36th player in school history to reach the mark.
She now dons the most prestigious crown in a professional basketball season.
