Is this the Krusty Krab? No, this is Wendy’s: Fast food giant launches take on Krabby Patty

Wendy's is bringing its "Krabby Patty Kollab" to lovers of the hit TV show, "SpongeBob SquarePants." The fast food giant's take on the Krabby Patty became available nationwide on Tuesday.

Has the day finally come that SpongeBob SquarePants lovers will find out the secret formula to the Krabby Patty?

Not so fast, Plankton!

That being said, while the Krabby Patty formula remains under wraps, it looks like Mr. Krabs and his boy fry cook have brought in a human collaborator to celebrate the hit TV show’s 25th anniversary.

Fast food giant Wendy’s launched a pair of “Krabby Patty Kollab” menu items that include a Krabby Patty Kollab Burger and a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty. Now available in the U.S., Canada, and Guam, the Krabby Patty Kollab menu will finally bring humans as close as they’ve ever been to tasting a mouthwatering Krabby Patty from the Krusty Krab.

“Fans have eagerly speculated and imagined how this iconic patty might taste, and Wendy’s is bringing its Krabby Patty Kollab Burger to land for a limited time, best paired with a first-of-its-kind Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty,” a press release noted. “The Krabby Patty Kollab Burger is Wendy’s take on the most coveted recipe in all of Bikini Bottom, available starting October 8 in restaurants nationwide and on the Wendy’s app.”

The limited meal includes a never-frozen, quarter-pound burger with two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles (paging Bubble Bass), onion, and a top-secret Krabby Kollab Sauce on a premium bun. The accompanying Frosty is the iconic vanilla flavor with a pineapple mango-flavored puree swirl. Of course, fries are included as well.

The Krusty Krab Kollab comes as Wendy’s is partnering with Nickelodeon and Paramount to celebrate the show’s immense success since launching its first episode in 1999.

“The Krabby Patty Kollab marks another innovative way to continue the landmark 25th anniversary celebration of ‘SpongeBob SquarePants,’ bringing Bikini Bottom to the surface like never before,” Paramount CMO Dario Spina said. “Wendy’s pulse on pop culture and connection to fans makes this collaboration a perfect match for Paramount, and we’re looking forward to delivering memorable and immersive experiences through custom, creative, engaging social content and recognizable influence.”

The animated show – which still averages more than 100 million viewers every quarter – has reached kids and adults worldwide for a quarter century, and finally, fans can get a sense of what the Krabby Patty might actually taste like.
