Kevin Yu became the latest to win the Sanderson Farms Championship when he ousted Beau Hossler in a playoff at the Country Club of Jackson on Sunday.
It was Yu’s first win on the PGA Tour since wrapping up his collegiate career at Arizona State in 2021. The 26-year-old Taiwan native not only got his first professional victory but walked away with the rooster trophy and a check for $1.368 million.

Yu shot a final round 5-under 67 with his fifth birdie of the day coming on 18 and setting up a playoff against Hossler. With both Yu and Hossler at 23-under on the weekend, it took just one hole for Yu to get the win as a sixth birdie secured it.

Yu and the other moneymakers weren’t the only ones smiling on Sunday, as tournament officials announced halfway through the annual event that Sanderson Farms had decided to stay on for another year as the title sponsor after originally deciding to end the contract early with 2024 being their final event as the namesake. The move buys executive director Steve Jent and company some more time to land another title sponsor and ensure the 56-year-old event remains in Jackson and moves forward as Mississippi’s lone PGA Tour event.
