Looking to prank somebody in Houston? Better think again as authorities in the Mississippi town are warning the public, particularly young people, to avoid partaking in careless activities that could result in serious consequences.
The Houston Police Department reports that multiple juveniles had been taken into custody this past weekend for “malicious pranks” that had taken place across town.
“This is so concerning because it could easily railroad a teen’s future,” a statement from the law enforcement agency reads. “Please, parents talk to your children about the seriousness of throwing eggs and setting off fireworks.”
According to authorities, there was a report in Chickasaw County, where Houston resides, of windows in homes being broken by what was described as a series of explosions. Police reiterate that this level of damage could turn what may appear to be a harmless prank at first into a felony charge.
“No one has money to throw away,” the police department’s release further stated. “As always we encourage everyone to keep their cameras on and eyes peeled.”
Anyone experiencing one of these incidents is urged to dial 911 or call HPD at (662)456-9411.
