Two Mississippi players are being awarded for a great season in minor league baseball.
The Milwaukee Brewers announced that High-A Wisconsin shortstop Cooper Pratt and Double-A Biloxi pitcher K.C. Hunt have been selected as part of the organization’s Robin Yount Performance Awards. Pratt was named co-Minor League Player of the Year while Hunt was named co-Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
Pratt, a sixth-round pick in 2023 out of Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia, split the regular season between Low-A Carolina and High-A Wisconsin, batting .277/.362/.406 with 15 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs, 45 RBI, 56 runs, and 27 stolen bases. He shared the award with Jesús Made, who enjoyed a stellar season with DSL Brewers 1 in 2024.
Hunt, a former national championship-winning pitcher at Mississippi State who signed with Milwaukee in 2023 as an undrafted free agent, went 8-3 with a 2.03 ERA and one save in 24 appearances between Carolina, Wisconsin, and Biloxi. He finished second in the organization with 139 strikeouts and had just 25 walks across three levels. Sharing the award with Hunt was Craig Yoho, who had a sub-one ERA across 48 relief appearances between Wisconsin, Biloxi, and Triple-A Nashville.
At season’s end, Pratt ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Brewers’ farm system while Hunt climbed up to No. 29. The annual awards are named after Robin Yount, who went on from the minor leagues to enjoy a 20-year Hall of Fame career as a shortstop with Milwaukee.
