The No. 5 Ole Miss football team will be walking out onto Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in style when No. 15 Oklahoma rolls into town for the inaugural conference matchup between the two teams on Saturday, October 26.

On Wednesday, the Ole Miss Athletics Department took to social media to unveil the brand-new navy blue helmets with sporadic white accents all over the lid.

This is not the first time Ole Miss has made uniform alterations in the Lane Kiffin era — and it likely won’t be the last.

Once Kiffin took over in Oxford, brand recognition became a priority for the program. Ole Miss got things going by introducing highly-anticipated powder blue jerseys to kick off the head coach’s inaugural season at the helm.

Since then, the program has not looked back and has tinkered with multiple uniform concepts, adding a series of new helmet designs — one for the 2021 Sugar Bowl and another being a collaborative effort with outdoor apparel company Realtree.

This past Saturday, the Rebels donned a new uniform consisting of white jerseys with powder blue numbers to compliment the script “Ole Miss” in red lettering on the front of the jerseys in the team’s 40-6 win at Wake Forest.

The reactions to the new helmet concept have been mixed, but the majority of social media users have seemingly affirmed the look.

Though these helmets won’t make their in-game debut for another month, Ole Miss (3-0) will continue its efforts to make the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

The next game in that process will take place this Saturday when Georgia Southern visits Oxford. The contest will kick off at 6:45 p.m. central and will be broadcast on the SEC Network and participating SuperTalk Mississippi stations.
