LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. — West Nile strikes again in the state, this time in Lowndes County according to the Mississippi State Department of Health. That makes three cases this year. The previous ones were in Madison and Forrest counties.
Last year the state saw 247 infections and five deaths. Remember to protect yourself by wearing long sleeves or putting on some bug repellant before going outside. The peak season for West Nile is July through September.
