Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris has found himself in hot water with law enforcement once again.
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, Harris was booked into jail on Sunday evening. He faces domestic violence and obstructing arrest charges.
While no additional details have been released regarding the nature of the football player’s arrest, this is not the first time the Canton native has been handcuffed in Oxford.
Back in July 2023, the former Germantown High School standout was reportedly spotted doing burnouts in a local apartment complex’s parking lot.
Harris then proceeded to exit the parking lot at a high rate of speed without properly utilizing his headlights. Soon after he left the lot, Oxford police officers located the football player and his car, which he wrecked after leaving the lot.
After investigation, Harris was charged with felony fleeing, DUI, minor in possession, no headlights, and running a stop sign. He ultimately bonded out and played in 11 of 13 games of the Rebels’ historic 2023 campaign and was an integral piece on Pete Golding’s defensive line, recording more than 30 tackles and a game-saving blocked field goal versus Texas A&M.
At this time, the Ole Miss Athletics Department has not released a statement, nor has anyone in the program given an update on Harris’ status with the football team. The Rebels begin the 2024 season versus Furman on August 31.
