A multi-agency manhunt is underway for a fugitive suspect in Jones County.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department said Danny Pettit, 42, may be armed and should be considered dangerous by the public. According to reports, Pettit fled Wayne County deputies into Jones County, then wrecked his car on Jesse Malone Road before proceeding to flee on foot.

Law enforcement officials describe Pettit as a white male. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, shirtless, and had a handcuff on his left hand. However, Pettit could have a yellow shirt in his possession.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding Pettit’s whereabouts to call 911 immediately.
