An investigation is underway after a jockey died at the Neshoba County Fair on Wednesday.

Per a report from WTOK, Neshoba County Coroner Myron Williams confirmed that Jarrod Deschamp, 52, of Kiln, died after a race. The cause of death was reported as respiratory complications.

This is the second incident from the fair involving a jockey this week. On Sunday, Jordan Goss was airlifted to a hospital in Jackson after the horse he was on went off track. Goss suffered a broken back, several broken ribs, a broken nose, a punctured lung, and multiple lacerations.

Goss was later reported to be in stable condition.

Neshoba County Fair officials have yet to issue a statement on either incident. Races are scheduled to run through the conclusion of the fair on Friday, Aug. 2.
