JACKSON, MISS– The House votes 67-49 to unseat Democratic Bo Eaton and replace him with Republican Mark Tullos.
On election day, Bo Eaton and Mark Tullos were neck-and-neck. So much so, that whoever would take the seat would be determined by drawing straws.
Eaton got the straw, so Eaton got the seat.
But the election was challenged, and after three hours of heavy debate in the House Wednesday, the votes came in, along party lines, 67-49 in favor of Tullos.
The House went with the recommendation that affidavit votes be thrown out. Those votes being tossed gave Tullos the lead.
