An investigation has been launched after an officer-involved shooting in Gulfport left one injured.
Officers with the Gulfport Police Department were called to the area of Church Street on Saturday after getting word of a suicide threat. Upon arrival, according to authorities, a subject was found pointing a weapon towards officers and threatening them.
The responding officers discharged their weapons, striking the subject. The subject was then transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries. None of the officers involved were injured.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case.
