A Texas man is behind bars after authorities in Rankin County found 44 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said that on Monday, a deputy conducted a traffic stop of a Ford truck on Interstate 20 for an unspecified violation. The officer then suspected that the driver, 35-year-old Arnol Zamora, was possibly involved in drug trafficking.

Upon the arrival of backup, one deputy deployed his trained K-9 “Voodoo” to search the vehicle. The police dog made a positive alert on the vehicle, allowing authorities to access the inside of the truck.

While searching the vehicle, investigators discovered a cardboard box in the rear passenger area. That box contained the large quantity of drugs.

Zamora was promptly arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance. He is now housed in the Rankin County Jail.
