Indianola mass shooting leaves 3 dead, at least 15 injured

Three people are dead and at least 15 injured following a mass shooting in the Mississippi Delta over the weekend.

According to The Enterprise-Tocsin, a large group of people were gathered around a local nightclub on Church Street before gunfire rang out just after midnight Sunday. Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton later identified the deceased as Areon Butler, Cameron Lee Burts, and Marquette Baites. Each was 19 years old.

The local newspaper report continued, noting that up to 16 others were shot either directly or hit by ricochet bullets.

At this time, no arrests have been made as law enforcement continues to gather evidence to try to nail down a motive and locate the suspect or suspects. Any relevant information can be relayed to the Indianola Police Department at (662)887-1811.
