Outgoing Jackson Prep baseball star Konnor Griffin has secured yet another national award, this time from Baseball America.
On Thursday, the highly respected publication named Griffin its 2024 High School Player of the Year following a standout season with the Patriots. Earlier this month, Griffin was named Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year – joining the likes of Alex Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, and Zack Greinke.

“[Griffin] led the Patriots to their seventh consecutive 6A state championship, hitting .559/.690/.966 with nine home runs. He set school records with 85 stolen bases and 47 walks,” Baseball America’s Brett Hudson pointed out as reasoning for the award going to Griffin. “Griffin maintained his status as the top prep prospect for the 2024 draft. And now he can add another accolade: BA High School Player of the Year.”
As Hudson noted, Griffin is the top high school player going into the 2024 MLB Draft, set for July 14-16 in Arlington, Texas. Some analysts have Griffin going as high as No. 5 overall to the Chicago White Sox. Currently, he is committed to playing for the LSU Tigers next season, but that could change based on draft selection.
While Griffin was a force to be reckoned with at the plate and on the basepaths, he also compiled a perfect 10-0 record on the mound with a nearly unhittable 0.72 ERA with 107 strikeouts over 67.2 innings of work.
