A suspect has been arrested after a missing child from Louisiana was found dead in Jackson.

Louisiana State Police issued an Amber Alert on Thursday morning for 4-year-old Erin Brunett and 6-year-old Jalie Brunett. The two girls were said to have been abducted after their mother, 35-year-old Callie Brunett, was discovered brutally murdered inside their mobile home in Loranger, La.

Authorities asked people to be on the lookout for an unidentified white male, who was wanted for questioning in a domestic violence incident that led police to the murder scene. Hours later, and 128 miles away, police in Mississippi’s capital city located the suspect at large, now identified as Daniel Callihan.

Callihan led JPD officers on a chase that ended at a location on Boozier Drive. Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade told WJTV there was evidence of possible human trafficking. According to Wade, there were animal cages that could have had humans inside and as officers forayed the area, they found Erin deceased in a nearby wooded area and Jalie alive. Medics transported Jalie to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.

The Human Trafficking Division of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was contacted to further assess the scene. The FBI and U.S. Marshal’s Service have also stepped in and are asking the public for any additional information related to the case.

Update: Jackson Police have arrested a second suspect in connection to this case. The female suspect, 32-year-old Victoria Cox, is an acquaintance of Daniel Callahan.
