Jackson Academy has gone to the professional ranks to find a new leader to run its baseball program.
The Raiders on Monday announced Major League Baseball veteran Corey Dickerson as the program’s new head coach. Dickerson, a McComb native, has been brought in to right the ship of a team that has endured back-to-back losing seasons.

The south Mississippian comes to the private high school level with experience from a player’s standpoint. Dickerson, a Brookhaven Academy standout, hit 45 home runs over his four years and even posted a single-season .591 batting average and 55 RBIs — shattering school records.
After a brief stint at Meridian Community College, Dickerson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. Following a few years in the minors, the left fielder made his major league debut in 2013. From there, he played for eight different teams, posting 1,028 hits, 136 home runs, and 469 RBIs in his career before hanging up the cleats as a member of the Washington Nationals in 2023.
Dickerson takes over the Jackson Academy baseball program following the departure of former head baseball coach Parker Harris.
