Jackson police are working to hold the owner of an abandoned hotel accountable for the mismanagement of the property.
Law enforcement and other members of the North Jackson community have been attempting to rid of the decaying Hotel O building. The hotel was condemned in August of 2023, and began being investigated for numerous code violations in 2021, which included structural weakness, unsafe electrical wiring, and prevalent mold throughout the property.
Hotel O has been known to house homeless people, though Jackson Police say it’s unsafe. The Jackson Police Department’s Community Engagement Unit went to the hotel this week to offer shelter resource information to the homeless living in the hotel.
Located off of Frontage Road on I-55 South in Jackson, the building is marked by burned out sections, broken windows, and rotting walls, though a portion of the building still houses an operating hotel.
The owner of Hotel O is known to be Noah Muthana, who has owned the property since 2021 according to Hinds County property tax records. He was ordered by a judge to demolish the property in March of 2023 but failed to show for a court hearing and has since had a warrant out for his arrest.
