The son of former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour has been taken into custody for trespassing.

According to the Madison Police Department, 44-year-old Reeves Barbour, Haley’s youngest son, was arrested on Thursday around 10:30 a.m. Reeves appeared in court later in the afternoon where he received a $1,000 bond before being transported to the Madison County Detention Center.

While details remain sparse on the context surrounding the trespassing arrest, this is not the first time Reeves has been in trouble with the law.

The politician’s son was locked up for public intoxication in 2003 and was placed in handcuffs in 2015 for simple assault. Reeves was convicted of the assault back in 2018, per a report from The Clarion-Ledger. He was found guilty of striking a man identified as Kurtis King after King allegedly complimented Reeves’ spouse. Reeves maintained that he was defending his spouse when he struck the victim.
