A burglary suspect who escaped from Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies is back in custody.
Sheriff John Ledbetter reports that deputies responded to a burglary in progress near a storage unit business off Highway 613 in Escatawpa on Tuesday morning around 7:30. Authorities caught a suspect identified as Jacob Rowan, 26, of Moss Point, and handcuffed him, but he managed to evade deputies.
Rowan ran off into a wooded area. According to Ledbetter, police dogs and nearby residents who kept seeing the subject assisted law enforcement in capturing Rowan in the Graham Road area around 11 a.m.
On top of the escape charge, Rowan is being charged for failing to show up in court Tuesday morning for a separate burglary charge. Ledbetter said he was also wanted in Mobile, Ala., on unrelated charges.
