Mississippi State wide receiver Justin Robinson is in the transfer portal.
First reported by 247 Sports, the Mcdonough, Ga. native is hitting the road in search of a new home after two years with the Bulldogs. Robinson, who transferred to Mississippi State after a mostly unproductive freshman campaign at Georgia, logged a total of 583 yards and three touchdowns in his stint at Mississippi State.
The speedy wide receiver came to the Golden Triangle to play under the leadership of the late Mike Leach, who tragically passed away in December 2022. Robinson remained with the program during the short-lived Zach Arnett era and opted to jump ship with Jeff Lebby taking the reigns as the Bulldogs’ frontman.

Mississippi State also lost its two most productive wide receivers, Tulu Griffin (NFL Draft) and Zavion Thomas (LSU). In the meantime, Lebby has dug into the portal and added Kelly Akharaiyi (UTEP) and Kevin Coleman (Louisville) while picking up a myriad of wide receivers from the high school ranks highlighted by four-stars Braylon Burnside and JJ Harrell.
With veteran signal-caller Will Rogers transferring to Washington and running back Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks committing to USC, the first-year head coach has had to essentially revamp his entire offense. Blake Shapen (Baylor) is now suiting up in maroon and white to be Rogers’ replacement while former Miami (Ohio) running back Rashad Amos is expected to be the Bulldogs’ workhorse this coming season.
“When I watch Blake, like 10 or 12 plays in, I’m like, ‘That’s my kind of guy. That’s exactly who we are and who we need to be.’ Blake is a guy that’s got a really, really live arm. He’s got great toughness about him,” Lebby said on Thunder & Lightning. “He’s got a really good understanding because he’s played a lot of football. And, man, I’m excited about him.”
A collection of transfers including Jacoby Jackson (Texas Tech), Makylan Pounders (Memphis), Ethan Miner (North Texas), and Marlon Martinez (LSU) are expected to headline the starting offensive line corps for Mississippi State this season.
Lebby is hopeful that the group will be cohesive come August 31 when the team kicks off against Eastern Kentucky.
“Football is won in the trenches,” Lebby said. “Ain’t no doubt about it.”
