A trio of people allegedly connected to an organized fraud enterprise in Mississippi have been arrested.
According to State Auditor Shad White, Christy Gomez is accused of conducting or managing a fraudulent business alongside Larry Hodge and Michael Norman. The three are said to have fraudulently received proceeds from the Rental Assistance for Mississippians Program (RAMP) for a nearly three-year span from January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2022.
“Our team of investigators dug deep to unearth this conspiracy,” White said. “We’ve put a stop to some massive schemes because of their efforts, and we can now add this one to the list.”
Authorities served Gomez with a $108,851.33 demand letter at the time of her arrest and Hodge was served with a $26,565.70 demand letter when he was apprehended.
Gomez faces up to 80 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. Hodge and Norman face up to 20 years behind bars and $25,000 in fines each if convicted.
