Amazon Web Services is now hiring for its incoming Madison County data centers.
According to online job postings, AWS is looking for construction managers, data center control techs, engineers, physical security managers, and more. Last month, the Mississippi legislature opened the door for a $10 billion private sector investment from the cloud company, making for the largest economic development project in state history.
“The largest economic development project in state history is now hiring!” Gov. Tate Reeves wrote on X. “AWS’ record-shattering $10 billion private sector investment will create 1,000 high-paying, high-tech jobs in Mississippi. THIS is our time!”
The investment from AWS will include two hyperscale data centers in Madison County, one at the Madison County Mega Center and the other on the Costas Property west of Tougaloo College and near County Line Road in Ridgeland. The state agreed to appropriate $44 million for infrastructure costs while loaning the county $215.1 million to ensure the project gets done.
As of now, the project’s completion is tentatively set for 2027.
