Five people have been arrested for a string of copper wire thefts at AT&T locations across Byram.
Over the past month, Byram police have received reports from the telecommunications company regarding copper lines being cut from different AT&T sites, leaving customers without service in the area.
Upon investigation, detectives recovered an estimated value of $10,000 in stolen copper wiring and arrested the following suspects:
- 40-year-old Sean Paul Bender (Byram) — Three counts of grand larceny
- 57-year-old David Scott Evans (Greenville) — Three counts of grand larceny
- 47-year-old Michael Levi Esposito (Byram) — Three counts of grand larceny
- 43-year-old Cheryl Leigh Welch (Byram) — Three counts of grand larceny and receiving stolen property
- 43-year-old Nicholas Adam Heidel (Byram) — Three counts of grand larceny, receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
The recovered stolen copper has since been returned to AT&T.
