Kenny Paul Geno, a once Division I basketball player turned high school coach, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to sexually exploiting underage females.
Back in November, Geno waived his indictment and entered into a guilty plea after coercing an underage female to send him nude photos, according to officials. He reportedly committed the crime between May 2019 and April 2021 while working as an assistant coach at his alma mater of Booneville High School.
Geno, who was removed from his positions as assistant coach for both the boys’ and girls’ teams upon being charged, is also accused of videotaping a sexual encounter between himself and a minor in 2022 and asking another underage female to send him explicit photos.
Court records show that on April 1, 2022, Geno coerced one of the minors into engaging in sexually explicit conduct “for the purpose of producing any visual depiction of such conduct knowing and having reason to know that such visual depiction would be transported.”
From January 1 until September 1, 2023, Geno is alleged to have had sexual activity with one of the other minors as well.
Before returning to Booneville, Geno played college basketball at the University of Georgia, where he averaged 11.7 minutes and 1.8 points per game.
