Thousands without power in Mississippi following Monday’s severe storms

Coming off a round of severe weather on Monday night, thousands of residents across the Magnolia State are currently without power.

As of the latest outage report, over 7,000 people still have no power. Counties with the most outages at 1:00 p.m. were:

  • Tate – 1,116
  • Amite – 1,295
  • Scott – 739
  • Lawrence – 401
  • Claiborne – 342
  • Franklin – 317
  • Wilkinson – 258

While trees crashed down across the state, the only incident that has been reported is a man and his dog having to be pulled from a car in Bay St. Louis after being caught in floodwater. Both are safe and unharmed.

Mississippi is expecting more severe weather Thursday night going into Friday with hail and high winds predicted in the central part of the state.
