JACKSON, Miss.–The annual Mississippi Economic Council’s Hob Nob event is today at the Mississippi Coliseum and state-wide candidates will headline the event, less than a week before next Tuesday’s general election.
The event was set to start around 9 a.m. and will include candidates for tight races, like Atty. Gen. Jim Hood and his Republican opponent Mike Hurst, and the not-so-tight races like Gov. Phil Bryant and his Democrat opponent Robert Gray and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and his opponent, former Republican and former state senator Tim Johnson.
A Mason-Dixon poll showed Hood ahead of Hurst, but barely. Hood was polling at 50 percent, with Hurt at 44, and a four percent margin of error. Hood’s strongest demographic of potential voters were blacks and women, while Hurst polled strongest with men.
If you cannot be there, you can watch the speeches live. News Mississippi’s Courtney Carter will Periscope the speeches. Follow News Mississippi on Twitter for the link, @news_ms.
