The Township Blues Festival has returned to Ridgeland with the annual event set for Saturday, Nov. 11.
Starting at 3:00 p.m., attendees will be invited to hear live music from renowned blues musicians, including Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, Ghost Town Blues Band, Jarekus Singleton, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, and Cedric Burnside.
Richard Greenlee, the owner and promoter of Wratchet Entertainment Group LLC, explained that Burnside will be the festival’s headlining act.
“Cedric is a duo. He plays with my good friend who is a drummer, Joe Eagle,” Greenlee said on a recent episode of MidDays with Gerard Gibert. “They get up there and they will lay it on you.”
Greenlee continued, saying that the event will close around 10:30 p.m. after a performance from Niederauer.
“[Niederauer] is an insane guitar prodigy. He was discovered by Ellen DeGeneres at 11 years old. Bruce Hampton took him on the road at 15,” Greenlee said. “He’s played on stage with everybody there is to play.”
Greenlee added that attendees will be able to purchase food and beverages from an array of vendors.
“We will have food vendors there, three or four vendors from barbeque, street food, pizzas. We will have full bar service, cocktails, beers, canned cocktails, drinks, soft drinks, and water,” Greenlee said. “You cannot bring any outside food or beverage in, but it’s all right there. You never have to leave the site.”
Tickets for general admission start at $35 for the first 500 attendees, with VIP tickets totaling $100 each.
The festival is presented by Southern Beverage Company, Michelob ULTRA, Busch Light, and Wratchet Entertainment Group and sponsored in part by Visit Ridgeland, SuperTalk Mississippi Media, and Visit Mississippi.
