The state of Mississippi has been awarded $34,730,368 in funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Coming from the Administration for Children and Families Office of Community Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the financial assistance will help low-income households pay for home heating and cooling bills.

The funding will also help prevent energy shutoffs, restore services, make minor energy-related home repairs, and weatherize homes to make them more energy efficient.
LIHEAP serves to ensure that residents are able to meet their home energy needs, especially when they are facing financial hardships that create difficulties in paying bills.
