The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will be hosting a career fair for those interested in pursuing a future occupation within the department.
On Thursday, November 2, and Friday, November 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the career fair will be taking place at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson.
College students of all classifications, including those from community and senior colleges, are invited to explore career opportunities within MDWFP.
According to MDWFP Executive Director Lynne Posey, the department is looking to hire people for a multitude of different positions ranging from park rangers to employees in museums, and even administrators.
“We’ve got some excellent jobs over there, and thanks to the legislature, our salaries have been moved up in state government,” Posey said on The Gallo Show. “We need people in parks. Like any other agency, we have administrative assistants we need.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with professionals from diverse fields, such as Accounting, IT, Law Enforcement, State Parks, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, Wildlife, Fisheries, and more.
In addition to discovering potential career paths, students can also explore fall, spring, and summer internship prospects within MDWFP.
Every attending student can enter for a chance to win a $500 scholarship from the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. MDWFP will select one recipient each day of the event.
