JACKSON, Miss.–The dry air is really working on making conditions ripe for fires. If you live in central Mississippi, you have an elevated fire threat today, which means outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
If you live in parts of northeast and south Mississippi, you have a limited fire threat, but you’re still asked to be especially careful if you’re burning anything.
The elevated fire danger includes Bolivar, Sunflower, Leflore, Grenada, Carroll, Montgomery, Webster, Choctaw, Washington, Humphreys, Holmes, Attala, Winston, Issaquena, Sharkey, Yazoo, Leake, Neshoba, Warren, Hinds, Rankin, Scott, Claiborne, Copiah, Simpson, Smith, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, Lawrence, Jefferson Davis, Covington and Marion counties.
The limited fire threat includes Clay, Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Noxubee, Kemper, Newton, Lauderdale, Jasper, Clarke, Jones, Lamar and Forrest counties.
