JACKSON, MISS–Trensek, a mobile game and application development company, is the first of its kind in Mississippi, and hopes to set the standard for technology development across the south.
But Trensek isn’t just for developing technology, it’s about creating opportunities for black Mississippians to start their careers in the tech world.
“My vision for Trensek is to change the financial landscape for the younger generation of African Americans,” says Melvin Dilworth, Trensek investor, “I really feel that our kids will look at what we are doing and realize they can do this too.”
Trensek has already developed a few projects to launch their company into the mobile platform. Rat Race, the Legend of Rex, is a game that the company hopes will attract African-American consumers. “The racecar has dual exhausts pipes which is something different and creative. It’s attractive to African-Americans, and I haven’t seen it in other games,” says John May, Trensek’s Financial Officer.
The groundbreaking product that Trensek has already developed is the world’s first smart headphones. A smartwatch, apps, music player, bluetooth capabilities, and games can all be accessed through one pair of wireless headphones that, when they hit the market, will sell for half the price of Beats by Dr. Dre.
Lt. Governor Tate Reeves says Trensek is a new direction for Mississippi.
“What I’m excited to see,” says Reeves, “is when a small business in Mississippi, becomes a big business in Mississippi.”
Mayor Tony Yarber says Trensek is one of the many reasons why Jackson is becoming the “Silicon Valley of the South.”
