TUPELO, Miss.- A dedication ceremony was held on Saturday for a Mississippi Monument at Shiloh National Military Park in Tennessee.
WLBT reports Mississippi is the 16th state to have a monument at the battlefield site and the marker is a product of work by several public and private groups. It is there to remember those from Mississippi who fought in the Civil War battle at Shiloh and Corinth.
The sculpter is Dr. J. Kim Sessums. He is a gynecologist in Brookhaven who also worked on the monument in Vicksburg honoring African-Americans.
