After five days in the hospital, Madison-Ridgeland Academy head football coach Herbert Davis is heading home.
Davis, a five-time state champion battling kidney failure, posted the news to social media Thursday afternoon.
I’m going home!! Everyone has been such a blessing!! I truly have felt the power of prayer!!

Even though the Patriots are set to kick off the 2023 season Thursday night at Parklane Academy, Davis is not expected to coach in the game. He had been battling an infection from kidney dialysis at the intensive care unit of Baptist Memorial Hospital since Sunday night.
MRA will be led by associate head coach and defensive coordinator Danny White as the team awaits Davis’ return. White, going into his sixth season with the Patriots, has helped the team to three MAIS state championships (2019, 2020, 2021) since joining the high school ranks after 12 years as an assistant coach at Belhaven University.
