JACKSON, Miss. – When it comes to cities offering raises, where does your town stand?
Just yesterday, the Laurel city council voted to cancel a three percent raise to its employees for 2016. Over in Natchez, the board of alderman voted unanimously to eliminate new hiring along with raises for the next six months.
Some cities are opening their check books however, the Biloxi city council has voted to give employees who have been with the city for over a year. Which is an even bigger pay raise than what was already expected. The raises will be issued in October.
